Mt. Belford hike

We hiked our 21st fourteener last Saturday. The hike was not so hard, but we were in rain, groppel (Coloradoan for something between hail and snow) and high winds which caused low wind chill temps. We stood on the summit long enough to get a picture of the marker. One other person was silly enough to be up there and took our picture for the record book.

Mt. Belford - August 15, 2009

We had planned to continue to Mt. Oxford via a connecting ridge, but it was just too windy to keep going. So it looks like we will climb Belford again since going over Belford is the only trail to get to Mt. Oxford.

By the time we got back to the trail head it was turning out to be a nice day. Figures.

Africa Pictures are online!

We had a fantastic trip to Africa. We flew to Chicago, rented a car and drove to Michigan on Thursday, June 18. We had a good visit with our grandkids and got to know our newest grand daughter, Madelyn. My niece, Leah, got married on Saturday. Sunday morning we had breakfast and said goodbye to the kids and drove back to Chicago for our flight to Nairobi. We were in Kenya until July 2 when we flew to Entebee, Uganda to visit our friend Richard and his family. Enjoy the pictures.

Spring Hiking in Colorado

Yesterday, Terri and I got out to one of our favorite hikes in Colorado. The Crags. It’s an easy hike with beautiful views. At the top is a bristlecone pine rumored to be the oldest in Colorado so we had our spring picture taken in front of it.

It’s still spring and mud season in the Rockies. We had a few places of mud and snow to hike through.

Marie Barlow Martin

My new favorite Christian artist. Marie sang in chapel at Focus on the Family and I now own all of her CDs. You can read more about her on her website.

Marie on Crystal Cathedral’s “Hour of Power” singing How Great Thou Art

Here she is at Focus on the Family where I first heard her.

This song is on her latest CD and I have not gotten sick of hearing it yet. This clip is from “Every Day with Marcus & Lisa” – Marie singing a song from the oldest known Christian songbook ever discovered – written around 100AD…

You can watch all her videos on YouTube.
